Overview
The purpose of the dairy science program is to offer students the opportunity to prepare themselves for a wide variety of careers by developing both their technical and interpersonal skills. Key factors in achieving this purpose are a challenging yet flexible curriculum that can be individualized to meet the educational needs and interests of each student, counseling to assist each student in designing individual programs, and extracurricular activities to enhance development of interpersonal skills. Students may select from three curricula: production business management; science/biotechnology/pre-veterinary; and dual major. All options provide students with the opportunity to acquire a broad education in the sciences, social sciences, economics, mathematics, and communications while learning the basic principles of dairy enterprise management.

DelVal graduates enjoy some of the highest job placement rates for students in their field. In fact, for the last several years, one-hundred percent of our students have secured employment or entered graduate school within six months of graduation.
The faculty and staff of Delaware Valley College support our students as they enter the world beyond the borders of our campus. We offer a number of ways for students to meet with and get to know employers. Each year, we hold a career fair on campus to bring employers to our students. In addition to the fair, our Career and Life Education Office works with students to deliver individual guidance, hold resume-writing workshops and impart interview-technique suggestions.
Dairy Science graduates have enjoyed positions as dairy managers, herdsman, breed association representatives, extension specialists, and AI technicians. As a result of training in both dairy production and business, many graduates work with pharmaceutical companies, feed manufactures and veterinary supply companies. Dairy Science also offers the opportunity for a career in education. A number of our graduates become involved with 4-H and FFA programs as well as teaching vocational education and science in high school.
