63. MEHY LOVE SONG
A papyrus containing songs for entertainment.

The Love Songs of the Chester Beatty
Papyrus I
Chester Beatty I is a papyrus containing songs for entertainment. Included on it is a collection of seven love songs each alternating between the voice of a man and the voice of a woman. They were all probably written by a man. We are only concerned with one of the poems here refered to as Stanza The Third "In the cycle of poems called "The Great Dispenser of Pleasure," each stanza contains a word play on the number it is assigned in the cycle. In this story a boy and girl fall for each other but fail to connect. This is poem three of seven. The boy is downcast by his lack of success and decides to go out of town to Nefrusy, a centre of the cult of Hathor, the goddess of love. How this text is to understood is the subject of much debate." - Robyn Gillam

Posted by PalArch Editor (IN) in Book Reviews PalArch's Journal of Vertebrate Palaeontology on August 29th, 2010 H.D. Sues about New Perspectives on Horned Dinosaurs: The Royal Tyrrell Museum Ceratopsian Symposium . – Bloomington, Indiana University Press The Ceratopsia or horned dinosaurs are a very distinctive group of ornithischian dinosaurs. All have a narrow beak, and most have bony collars or frills extending from the back of the skull. The earliest forms were still rather small and bipedal. Later taxa attained large head and body size and became quadrupedal; they are often considered the dinosaurian analogue of a rhinoceros. Most of these derived forms also sport prominent nasal and/or supraorbital horns. One of the geologically youngest ceratopsians, Triceratops , ranks among the most widely known dinosaurs, rivaling its likely predator, Tyrannosaurus rex , in popular recognition.

Welcome to the Department of Ancient History
Ancient History offers over eighty units for study at undergraduate level and covers the antecedents of western civilisation in ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, the Ancient Near East and the Graeco-Roman world. Greek history is studied from Homer to the Hellenistic cultures under the Roman empire (including Judaism and early Christianity) and Roman history from the Republic to the Late Empire, the Silk Road and the Medieval and Byzantine period. Egyptian history is taught from the Predynastic period up to that of the Ramesside period. Egypt's later history merges with the Greek, Roman and Coptic streams.
