Posted: Friday 29th of Dec 09:31 Hello Math Gurus! I am a starting at (solving simultaneous equations)(differential equations). I seem to understand the lectures in the class properly, but when I begin to solve the questions at home myself, I commit mistakes. Does anyone know of any website where I can get my answers checked before submitting them for grading? Or any resource where I can get to see a step by step answer? Maxwell's equations describe electricity, magnetism, space, time and the relationships among them. They are simple and fundamental. As we saw in the introductory film clip , their simplicity, symmetry and beauty persuaded Einsten to develop a theory of relativity in which Maxwell's equations were invariant. Here we explain why.

The variable quantities are the electric field E (written in bold here to indicate that it is a vector), the magnetic field B J (the amount of electric current flowing through unit area).

    Starting on the top left, Faraday's law is what makes electricity generation possible: relative motion of a coil and a magnet produces a voltage. Gauss' law is another way of writing Coulomb's law of electrostatic interaction. The other two laws together give the law of Biot-Savart. We have just seen the Coulomb and Biot-Savart laws in The electric and magnetic forces between moving charges . You can see that the Ampere-Maxwell law is something like a magnetic analogue of Faraday's law. As we shall see, it is also important in electromagnetic radiation: a magnetic field may arise not only from a current, but also from a varying electric field.

    Title: The interrelationship of integrable equations, differential geometry and the geometry of their associated surfaces
    Authors: Paul Bracken (Submitted on 5 Mar 2009 ( ), last revised 22 Sep 2009 (this version, v3)) Abstract: A survey of some recent and important results which have to do with integrable equations and their relationship with the theory of surfaces is given. Some new results are also presented. The concept of the moving frame is examined, and it is used in several subjects, which are discussed. Structure equations are introduced in terms of differential forms. Forms are shown to be very useful in relating geometry, equations and surfaces, which appear in many sections. The topics of the chapters are different and separate, but joined together by common themes and ideas. Several subjects which are not easy to access are elaborated, such as Maurer-Cartan cocycles and recent results with regard to generalizations of the Weierstrass-Enneper method for generating constant mean curvature surfaces in three and higher dimensional Euclidean spaces.     Systems of Differential Equations
    In the introduction to this section we briefly discussed how a system of differential equations can arise from a population problem in which we keep track of the population of both the prey and the predator.  It makes sense that the number of prey present will affect the number of the predator present.  Likewise, the number of predator present will affect the number of prey present.  Therefore the differential equation that governs the population of either the prey or the predator should in some way depend on the population of the other.  This will lead to two differential equations that must be solved simultaneously in order to determine the population of the prey and the predator.
