Welcome
Welcome to the internet publication of Metaphysics by Default. This web site is maintained by the author as an academic resource for the general public.
These common notions are not sound. There is no compromise, but reconciliation is possible. Natural science and metaphysical philosophy can coexist peacefully in the modern mind. This document is proof. The essay itself comprises nineteen chapters. The chapters are best read in sequential order, starting with a timeless word of encouragement that is Chapter 1 Readers who desire to judge the philosophy's practical value may prefer to skip ahead to Chapter 18 . Metaphysics by Default offers ready aid to the beleaguered ethicist or ecologist, and Chapter 18 explores this potential utility. Readers who wonder at the inclusion of so much history in a modern work should hazard first the dedication of Chapter 19 . The dedication invokes divine qualities of Hellenic spirit which are lost to us, and which this modern essay perforce recovers.

Obama surprise
The elaboration of the Obama surprise continues, with Dubai now spouting the full bomb story, complete with an 'undated' photo of a disassembled . . .OMG!!!. . . photocopier. Note that despite the headlines and paragraph after paragraph translated from the original Hebrew, not one iota of explosive material has been found in the United States. at 10/30/2010 09:36:00 AM View Comments Links to this post
The Yemen printer cartridge hoax
Despite the efforts of the Jew-controlled media to mislead us into thinking that 'al Qaeda' in Yemen attempted to send bombs to Chicago synagogues disguised as printer cartridges - everybody buys their printer cartridges from Yemen - a close reading of the stories makes it clear that there were in fact no bombs at all. From the National Post
"British police said an item found on the UPS plane was sent for further testing. CNN said it was an ink toner cartridge converted into a bomb.
Before Obama spoke, an FBI source had told Reuters that initial tests in Britain revealed no explosives." and:
"U.S. officials and some analysts speculated that the suspicious parcels may have been a test of cargo screening procedures and the reaction of security officials.

For many years now graduate students in each of these departments have been involved in research on the foundations of the various sciences. This work has led to important results, and has been useful in pointing out directions for future research. Often, however, this graduate student research does not receive the attention it deserves due to the absence of a nationally accessible medium. The Pittsburgh Journal hopes to make available and archive these results. Furthermore, its utility will be increased by inviting graduate students nationally to participate. Updates at this site will include conference dates and the keynote speaker. Home Page questions and comments about the conference or journal should be addressed to Mark Shipman ( mps+@andrew.cmu.edu

"Shut up and calculate": le clash physique et métaphysique
