However, there are many types of pollution and each has its own set of causes and effects. Types Of Pollution: Air Pollution Exposure to this type of pollution can result in nasal problems, coughing, asthma, certain cancers, and heart problems. Types Of Pollution: Water Pollution Water is one of our Earth's precious resources and we are damaging it at alarming rates. There is a thinking out there that it is an endless supply, but that is far from the truth. There are several reasons for water pollution, which include: There are many other causes of this type of pollution and all are damaging to our marine mammals, fish, plant life, and to us. Scents
Scents can usually be found in personal care products, such as perfumes, aftershaves, colognes, shampoos and conditioners, soaps, body lotions and deodorants. Scents are also found in household items, such as air fresheners, deodorizers, candles, some laundry detergents, fabric softeners and cleaning products. Scents can also be found in the workplace (e.g. cleaning products, adhesives, caulking). How can scented products affect my health? Chemicals used to add scents to products can cause serious health problems for some people, especially for people with lung diseases such as asthma or COPD . Being near a scented product can make some people sick. Scents enter our bodies through our skin and our lungs. The chemicals in scents can cause many different reactions. Even products containing natural plant extracts can cause allergic reactions in some people. While some people are only mildly affected by scents, others have severe reactions. Some common symptoms include:
  • headaches feeling dizzy feeling tired or weak shortness of breath nausea cold-like symptoms worsening asthma symptoms
What ingredients are in scents?

Pollution, Air Quality and Noise
Pollution comes in many forms - air, noise, land and water pollution. The council's Environmental Health Officers are responsible for protecting public health and carrying out monitoring of pollution. You can find out more about the council's responsibilities in this section, as well as other agencies we work with to combat pollution.
In this section...
Wherever possible the council tries to advise and educate people and businesses on how to avoid causing pollution. However, we can also impose conditions and restrictions on certain activities and serve notices to force people to deal with pollution problems. Pollution of rivers and lakes is dealt with by the government's Environment Agency, who also regulate major industries and carry out a wide range of national and local environmental monitoring.

Types of Air Pollution Air pollution has been a public issu
Air pollution has been a public issue for decades and has been identified as having numerous health consequences. It has also spawned a good deal of effort to curb emissions from automobiles and factories and to maintain the forests and other natural entities which help preserve a good atmosphere. Air and water pollution have probably been the primary concerns which originally energized a number of groups in society to try to do something about the problem of pollution. Among the groups fighting to stop air pollution were the Sierra Club, the Audubon Society, scientific groups, Zero Population Growth, and other citizen-led groups. While no one was specifically agitating for pollution as such, business interests fought to prevent regulations they considered excessive and costly, such as regulations directed at reducing emissions from factories or calling for a redesign of automobiles to make them less polluting. Outdoor air pollution gets the most attention, but more recently, there has been much attention given to interior air pollution from a variety of sources, including the pollution from outdoors, radon in cellars, and various structural materials and coverings which may cause allergic reactions in some people. Most air pollution is emitted from the exhausts of automobiles or from the burning of fossil fuels by industry. Even clean air contains many substances other than oxygen and nitrogen, its major constituents, including rar

For example, this is about water pollution, quality of life, and Christian worldview:
"The second plenary speaker...was Susan Drake Emmerich, a Christian anthropologist who became involved in Tangier Island, a closed island subculture...in the Chesapeake Bay with a population of about eight hundred people. Susan spoke of the way in which she was able to become accepted by the Tangier fishing community. The watermen would indiscriminately pollute the bay with trash and oil. Susan convinced them to enter into a covenant to preserve the bay by changing their waste disposal habits. She did this by appealing to their already-established beliefs, connecting in their minds their faith in Jesus (their Pilot on the water) with their caring for his creation."
