    On behalf of the sporting goods industry, SGMA has successfully lobbied Congress and Administration officials for a century, fulfilling our mission as the Voice of the Industry on Capitol Hill.     Susan G. Komen for the Cure focuses on a number of public policy priorities central to the delivery of quality breast health and breast cancer care. Several of these initiatives include increased funding for the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP), increased funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/National Cancer Institute (NCI), adequate protections for breast cancer patients and adequate reimbursement rates under Medicare. Affiliates play a vital role in furthering the organization's public policy priorities by engagin activism at the federal, state and local levels. Affiliate involvement in the grassroots public policy program, Komen Champions for the Cure(TM), illustrates this effort. Komen Champions for the Cure(TM) was inspired by thousands of Komen volunteers across the country that work in local communities and with their state health departments to educate Congress, the President and other policymakers about breast health and breast cancer care. EPA Library Closure Update In early 2006, the EPA budget revealed a proposed cut of  $2 million in Bush Administration's FY2007 Budget that would directly affect and close the network of 27 libraries and information centers within the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  SLA vehemently opposed this decision and took action. In August 2006 the EPA began to implement their budget plan before Congress could approve the budget. SLA continues to voice concern over the EPA decision to start their closures without weighing the impact.

    Transition to the New Rules of Court
    The Alberta Rules of Court are set to come into force and will apply to all existing proceedings on November 1st, 2010. This paper outlines the transition provisions and how the new rules will affect existing proceedings. In particular there are three types of transition provision that govern:
    • when specific new rules will not apply to certain proceedings,
    • when specific former rules will continue in force, and
    • what do to when time periods are different under the new rules.
