Communication This is a resource file which supports the regular public program "areol" (action research and evaluation on line) offered twice a year beginning in mid-February and mid-July. For details email Bob Dick bdick@scu.edu.au or bd@uq.net.au ...in which three sets of important communication skills are described: expressive skills for stating a point of view non-defensively; listening skills for learning another's point of view; and process skills for managing the overall interaction Contents Edgar Schein visited Australia in 1980. On one occasion he described the most important management skills as technical, interpersonal and emotional. By emotional skills Schein meant the ability to make difficult decisions, to take responsibility, and the like. A simpler equivalent term is courage, with elements of self-management. Emotional skills, he said, were most important. Without emotional skills the interpersonal skills cannot be used to most effect. And without interpersonal skills the technical skills may be wasted. Emotional skills are a necessary foundation for interpersonal skills, which in turn are needed to make the most of technical skills.

Communication requires that all parties understand a common language that is exchanged with each other. Exchange requires feedback. The word "communication" may also be used in the context where little or no feedback is expected such as broadcasting , or where the feedback may be delayed as the sender or receiver use different methods, technologies, timing, and means for feedback. Communication can be carried out by auditory means, such as speaking, singing, and sometimes tone of voice, and nonverbal, physical means, such as body language, sign language , paralanguage, touch, eye contact, or the use of writing . Whatever the medium, though, communication still means that one or more individuals are transferring information. The question becomes whether the information transmitted can be received and correctly interpreted. Scientists and social scientists alike have been fascinated by the process of communication, which is not limited to human beings, or even all living creatures, but may also be carried out between machines or parts of machines; some seek communication with beings from other planets ( extraterrestrial life ); for the religious, communication also occurs with beings in the

Not only humans communicate, most other animals do too. Some communication is done without thinking, such as by changing in posture This is similar to communication by talking
change How communication works
Communication works by exchanging information or messages. In very basic terms
  • The sender makes a message, from an idea. This is usually called encoding The sender transmits the message through the medium. The recipient receives the message and decodes it.

North American Quarterly Supply and Demand Report
Published: Quarterly Each quarter (March, June, September and December) for the past 25 years, the Communications Center has examined each satellites spectrum utilizing its own C- and Ku-band earth stations at various times of the day and night and on weekends for activity on the North American domestic transponders. A significant portion of each report is devoted to quantifying the satellite operators' market share for supply and demand and the overall market share for scheduled video, occasional video and voice and data services. This report is one of the tools the Communications Center uses in tracking fluctuations in transponder supply and demand. This information is extremely useful for forecasting, future capacity needs. Don't let your competitors be one step ahead of you in forecasting future transponder needs or knowing where available capacity exists.
