Residents of New Orleans and elsewhere along the Gulf Coast have been trying to adjust to their "new normal" in the five years since Hurricane Katrina. This new normal was changed abruptly when the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion occurred off the coast of Louisiana in April 2010.
