Richland, Washington Desert Kung Fu offers instruction in the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Wing Chun is a close quarters self-defense system renowned for economy of motion and efficiency. The techniques and the founder of the style originated from the famous Shaolin temple over four hundred years ago. As was common with traditional Kung Fu styles, it was passed down through the generations of a family until being taught publicly in Hong Kong by Grandmaster Yip Man in the 1950's. One of Grandmaster Yip Man's most famous students was Bruce Lee, who almost single-handedly introduced martial arts to the Western world. Wing Chun enjoys the reputation of being a scientific martial art because it is based upon principles of physics and body dynamics, making it one of the most effective, yet simple to learn martial art systems. It was adopted by many Chinese rebel groups due to the short time it took to produce effective fighters. Wing Chun emphasizes skill, timing, technique and footwork rather than brute force, making it a martial art for everyone regardless of size, strength or body type. In fact, Wing Chun was developed by a 16th-century Shaolin nun , and is named after the young woman who used it defeat the bully terrorizing her village!

Origins
  • Modern kickboxing was created as a sport in Japan during the 1950s. Combining elements of many different martial arts, this energetic, fighting sport was enjoyable for spectators to watch. Many of the techniques in kickboxing were derived from Muay Thai and Karate. By the 1970s, the popularity of kickboxing had spread to Europe and the United States.

    Are you tired of going to the gym and performing those same training routines again and again. Read this article on how cardio kickboxing would be an ideal choice for your workout. Cardio kickboxing is a genre of kickboxing ; that borrows some moves from the original Thai sport of kickboxing to help participants bust a sweat.
    Cardio kickboxing has become a rage in gyms and fitness centers across America. A cardio kickboxing class takes place for an hour in the aerobics section of the gym. A cardio kickboxing teacher heads the class, which on an average consists of 15 to 25 students. With the whole class usually facing a mirror, the teacher heads the group with some specific punches and kicks. A cardio kickboxing routine is usually accompanied by a fast paced cardio kickboxing music. Teachers also include some quick minutes of jogging and skipping as a warm up exercise.
    Cardio Kickboxing Routines
    Cardio kickboxing is one of the best forms of cardiovascular exercises, but they are not suited for everybody. If you have a back problem or a medical injury, consult your doctor, before doing a cardio kickboxing workout. Cardio kickboxing moves always begin with a warm up. The warm up includes few stretching exercises or you could also include skipping or jogging. If you do the punches with the same exactness and power shown by the instructor, you'll strengthen your upper body and gradually gain more muscle definition. Just be sure you get what you pay for when you decide to join whichever school you choose. Here at A.F.T.A. Martial Arts and Fitness you will be put in class with beginners to advanced students, this will help bolster your want to succeed. Obviously you are not expected to keep up with those that have been doing this activity longer. When you get tired you can stop and rest for a while. Eventually you will become stronger and build up stamina and notice changes in your attitude and your body. A.F.T.A. can not do it all for you, you need to eat right as well because this is a partnership. Some of our people have been with us for years and are a great example of what this program can do.     I will share the 7 Rules of Fat Loss that need to be followed in order to achieve maximum permanent fat loss along with increased muscle tone. Fat Loss Rules Fat Loss Rule #1: Consume less calories than your body burns for five days a week. You need to consume approximately 500 calories less than what your body burns (maintenance amount) as if you do not create a caloric deficit, no matter what you do, you will not lose fat! However, it is important that over the weekends you increase your calories by 700 over the maintenance amount. This is necessary in order to prevent the metabolism from slowing down.
