Want to Sail ?
"When discovering new oceans,
one must first have courage
to lose sight of the shore..." Access Dinghies were designed to appeal to that huge majority of the world's population who would love to have a go at sailing, but find it too difficult or uninviting to do so. Whether as a recreation, a competition sport or a therapeutic activity; the Access Dinghy design features allow total novices of any ability to sail with little or no tuition, nearly regardless of the conditions. Around the world, Access Dinghies are introducing whole new communities to sailing. Apart from the development of revolutionary sailing craft and supportive equipment - Access Dinghy Sailing System (ADSS) also fosters the formation and development of the innovative "accessible sailing" network throughout the world.
Let us help you start an "Accessible Sailing Club" in your area.

Boat Building With Wooden Boat Blueprints
September 22, 2010, 8:36 am You can build your own boat with wooden boat blueprints. Even the amateur builder can find what you need with the right set of blueprints and have as much fun building the boat as you will sailing it. You may find free blueprints or purchase them if you find something you prefer not available for free.
You may get wooden boat woodworking plans for canoes, kayaks, or flat bottom boats. You might want to build a vintage jet ski or a flat bottom Jon Boat for fishing. You can design boats from 1957 or a large sea skiff. You might even build an old-fashioned generic boat so that you can share the experience with another.
For instance, if you would like to make a simple wooden boat, you can construct with little framework over the course of a day if you have the... (read more)

These races are contested by helmsmen from all round the coast of Kent, and the standard at the front of the fleet is up to Olympic. At the tail end, the standard is more like the average club sailor. Lone sailing is not recommended, since water temperatures can drop to freezing point.

    Learn About Dinghy Sailing
    Dinghy Sailing
Dinghy Sailing is a popular recreation sport that tests your forte and patience in the waters. The sailing dinghies makes use of either stitch and glue, besides, timber framed construction. A dinghy is controlled using sails, underwater foils such as dagger board or centreboard and rudder. Other important controls includes trim which helps to direct the forward and rear angle of the boat while it sails on water. The dinghy, especially in windy or high intensity sea breeze, is controlled by crew movement as they try to balance the sailing by moving from one side to another. Lastly, dinghy sailing on high tide waters can be checked and controlled by choosing a safe route with less of wind variations and water currents. Apart from the usual Dinghy Sailing, dinghies are also used for popular event called as dinghy racing. This type of racing requires complete control and balance of your mind and physical astute while you are sailing against or in the direction of high blowing sea winds. Like any tournament, dinghy racing also involves in manipulating the movements of the competitor’s dinghy to your benefit. From the 17th century to the present day, dinghies have undergone sea change in the form and structure. Likewise, there has been a phenomenal change in the Dinghy Sailing all through these times. The most widely used and popular dinghies include, Skiffs, High Performance dinghies, Cruising dinghies, Classic dinghies, Catamarans and Racing dinghies. Skiffs are the sail fastest of all dinghies and difficult to control when sailing on water. 49er, an Olympic boat, and the advanced International 14 are some of the common examples of skiffs.

HOW TO FIND CRAWLEY MARINERS YACHT CLUB THE VIEW FROM THE HELM As I write this I am still basking in the afterglow of yesterdays final cruise of the season the late autumn Solent Cruise. We had nine dinghies out exploring the vast expanse of Southampton Water. Ours certainly seemed to be the smallest vessels afloat in that busy stretch of seaway. I have always maintained that the enjoyment to be had from a boat is not proportional to its size and judging from the comments ashore afterwards all the Mariners present certainly enjoyed their day out. We did pass the new Queen Elizabeth ocean liner on her berth. She weighs 92,000 tonnes, the Wanderer dinghy in the picture a mere 130 kg! She is due to leave tomorrow on her maiden voyage tomorrow for the Canary Islands after a naming ceremony by her Majesty. As you can see from the photo Caroline had great difficulty performing a curtsey whilst crewing for Adrian in the Wanderer. Well they didn't cover that on Level 2, did they! A full write up appears on the cruising page.
