Angela Ghimpu Romania's Forgotten Stars A page deticated to Romania's forgotten gymnasts This site is for Romania's gymnasts of the past who never quite made it; the ones whose dreams just never came true. It is especially deticated to Ana Marie Bican, because she came so close to glory. Each year, hundreds of little girls come to Deva for the selection. As their parents watch anxiously over the balcony railings, the very best of them are selected to remain at the school. Over the next few years they will undergo countless selections, and perhaps one or maybe two will one day be stars on the national team. But what happens to the others? With this website I would like to show about the other gymnasts at Deva. They are the ones who train hard every day, but are faced with injuries, growth spurts, or plain bad luck. Some competed nationally and internationally, but their careers ended prematurely; some could have gone so far. Some's careers last bitterly short, while others' ended far before they ever began. All this leaves the painful question in their minds, and in the minds of the fans of Romanian gymnasts, the two painful words of, "What if...?" 87. Irishok
Official site of Irina Kazakova. Includes biography with photos and videos.
http://www.irishok.ru
We can't express completely a magic of development of sportswoman and actress here. It takes neither one minute nor one day, this magic is here, near us, but we do not see it every time.
And the purpose of this web site is not training description or advertisement. We just were trying to remind to many people about Talents among them, which live next door, humbly travel by the underground, and go to cinema…
But one day they become fairytale princesses, somebody's ideal, and evoke deeply hided emotions from our soul. Among them is Irina Kazakova. This site is about her creativity, sport career and people around her.
The process of performance preparation reminds a communication of unusual and enigmatic people. It's hard and delicate work, real art. Head and body create all the time like possessed artists, sculptors, musicians. Yes, these arts completely reflect essence of Rhythmic Gymnastics and work on scene.
Body and fantasies of sportswoman and her trainers are tools for externalization of amazing ideas. They constantly need patience, volition and cruel restrictions. Any deviation from these principles can leave all plans without their realization on scene or carpet.

This page is a tribute to one of mine, and many other peoples favorite gymnasts. Many say that she is coming to the end of her competitive career but lets hope she carries on for as long as she feels fit enough. I hope you enjoy the page! Dina Kotchetkova was born in Moscow, Russia on the 27th of July 1977. She does not have any brothers or sisters. Dina's parents both work, her mother is a nurse and her father is an engineer. She began gymnastics in 1982 at the age of 5, when, like many other East European gymnasts, she was selected out of her kindergarden class as a potential champion by the Soviet sports authorities. In 1991 she wass a member of the USSR junior team where she finished second in the all-around competition. She says her favorite events are the floor exercise and the uneven bars, a statement backed up by her famous coach, Leonid Arkaev. When she is not training or competing for gymnastics she likes to relax by listening to music and reading science fiction! When she retires from gymnastics she intends to become a coach. Dina is currently recovering from a knee operation and was seen recently at the Russian National championships although she has not regained competitive fitness yet.

96. Nellie Kim
An essay on gymnast Nellie Kim.
http://www.ncsu.edu/ligon/olympics/kim/kim.menu.html
Nellie Kim
By Hanna Collins Grade 8 Ligon Middle School
Nellie Kim has been thought to be one of the greatest gymnasts in the world. Nellie was born in Chimkent, South Central Asia, in 1957. Nellie's father was Korean. Her mother was a Tartar, a member of the Mongolian race.
Nellie was the oldest of three children, two girls and a boy. She was fun loving girl , she loved sweets and played lots of sports. Her favorite sports were swimming and ice skating. She also liked gymnastics which was offered in all Russian schools.
Nellie was a chubby 9 year old child when a gymnastics instructor (Vladimir Baiden) first saw her He was very impressed with Nellie grace and natural abilities. So he invited her to join his classes at the gymnastics school in Chimkent. She began a strict training routine. She worked about four hours a day, six hours a week.
In the beginning, she showed to be truly gifted in floor exercise. She was very good with routines of leaps ,spins, and tumbles. She was also good with dance steps. She also showed a lot of talent on the vault.
During a gymnastics meet the girls would compete for a score, 1 being the lowest 10 being the highest. She scored above the typical score to a high 9.90. During her training her coach noticed she was not easy to train. She always had to make the practice routine her own by adding a twist or a flip to it.
