THANK YOU!
On behalf of the United Scottish Cultural Society and the Games Committee, I'd like to thank you for all your support in making the 2010 Games one of the best yet! Mother Nature co-operated yet again and what started as a cold, overcast morning, blossomed into a gorgeous afternoon.
The British Car display was well represented by a number of Jags, a Cortina, a Lotus, an Austin taxi, a smattering of Morgans and, well you get the picture.
Simon Fraser University Pipe Band once again took top honours in the Grade 1 Pipe Band Competition and Grade 2 was won again by the New Westminster Police. The Lee family was very well represented in the prize lists in the Professional class. In one particular event Jack Lee and two of his sons, Andrew and Colin were in the top four, a record we're sure anywhere!
The Highland Dancing went off without a hitch, kids were scurrying around the ground absorbed in the Haggis Hunt and the "Heavies" were doing their thing all day.
This year we had more food vendors than ever before so the line-ups were kept to a minimum. Two beer gardens also ensured no wait in that department as well.
It will all happen again next year, same place, same time on June 25th.(The Games are always the last Saturday in June).

A Ceilidh (pronounced "Kay-lee", emphasis on 1st syllable) is many things. It derives from the Gaelic word meaning a visit and originally meant just that (and still does in Gaelic). It can also mean a house party, a concert or more usually an evening of informal Scottish traditional dancing to informal music. Ceilidhs in the lowlands tend to be dances, in the highlands they tend to be concerts. Ceilidhs are extremely popular indeed with young people and often attract from a few dozen people to several hundred.
St. Andrew's Society of Detroit's Ceilidh is Metro Detroit's premier Scottish concert. It is a kick-off party/concert to our Annual Highland Games and is held the night before the Games on the Games field.
