Hunting Office of External Affairs Since the late 19th century, hunters concerned about the future of wildlife and the outdoor tradition have made countless contributions to the conservation of the nation's wildlife resources. Today, millions of Americans deepen their appreciation and understanding of the land and its wildlife through hunting. Hunting organizations contribute millions of dollars and countless hours of labor to various conservation causes each year. The Service recognizes that in many cases, hunting is an important tool for wildlife management. Hunting gives resource managers a valuable tool to control populations of some species that might otherwise exceed the carrying capacity of their habitat and threaten the well-being of other wildlife species, and in some instances, that of human health and safety. WHHCC . The Council will provide advice to the Secretaries of Interior and Agriculture about wildlife and habitat conservation endeavors that benefit recreational hunting, wildlife resources, and encourage partnership among the public, the sporting conservation community, the shooting and hunting sports industry, wildlife conservation organizations, the states, Native American tribes, and the Federal Government. Under Federal law established by international treaties with Canada, Mexico and other countries with whom we share migratory birds, the Service has ultimate responsibility for regulating migratory bird hunting nationwide. On one of a number of hunting trips, I took my camera along to try and capture a few shots of an amazing experience
CLICK ON IMAGES FOR LARGER VERSION Ferrets are essential on a hunting trip with hawks. The ferrets are used to chase out rabbits holed up under the ground. Ferrets love rabbits, but the rabbits are not so keen on the ferrets and leave their holes rapidly when one of our furry friends gets near. I had the dubious honour of managing these animals on the trip, and also being the first person to be bitten by these particular ferrets. This dog is amazing. It sniffs out rabbits wherever they hide. No matter how rough the terrain, this dog loves it. Through dense spiny bushes and ditches filled with ice cold water, it makes no difference "Anjing", actually catches rabbits and hares himself before the bird has a chance to get there. Here are the birds then. First Annettes'. This one is a young inexperienced hawk. On the day, he weighed a little too much and was not very interested in catching anything. After a while he flew off after a pheasant and Hans had to go after him with the radar tracker. This Hawk belongs to Hans. This bird is a little older (and bigger) and was very hungry. If I remember correctly, he caught 5 rabbits on the trip. Annettes' hawk would fly after a rabbit, wherever it went. Even through a wire fence if neccesary. Hans' hawk first watched the rabbit and then decided how to catch it with as little fuss as possible.

During my "cyber-pilgrimage", I have come across more than one web page that has seen fit to post the photograph off my web page showing my son helping me jerk hides and to cast aspersions on the way that I raise my children.
Let's see what I teach my kids, shall we?
- It is soley their own responsibility take care of themselves and their families.
- I teach them the knowledge and skills to do this under nearly any circumstance.
- Never steal or beg and be true to your word. - Never pick a fight, but never run from one. A message to anti-hunters, If you want to post my son in that light, go ahead. Just be sure that your own kids see it and let them know that one day, he will be helping to pay their welfare check and if they mess with him or his family, he will have them wearing their asses for hats. And, just to fuel the fires, I have posted a page to more openly display the "abhorent" activities that I let my son engage in!

Chukar Hunting Guide and Tutorial
How To Hunt Wild Chukar Partridge
So you want to learn how to hunt chukar? I'm not talking about the game farm variety that can't run and can't fly that you'll find stuffed into a bit of cover at a "hunting preserve". Oh no, I'm talking about WILD chukar! Hunting the wily and elusive red-legged partridge is my passion. I've never met anyone better at finding wild chukar than I am. That's not a brag. There are four generations of chukar hunters in my family tree and I've earned the knowledge for myself logging thousands of footsore miles in pursuit from the mountains of southern California's Mojave Desert to the rimrock in Montana and every state in between. I can park my truck where the road ends and the mountain begins, look up and tell you where we'll find 'em and I've taught others to do the same. I've even done it looking at topographical maps, although not as reliably. After I was introduced to the obsession, I read and devoured every article, every snippet, and every reference on chukars that I could find. At the time, there were a few academic articles, but nothing substantial regarding the art of hunting chukars. Most provide pretty pictures, give you a few hints, point you in the general direction and send you on your way. I wanted some meat but eventually despaired of finding any. In the ensuing years, the chukars, the terrain they inhabit, and fellow chukar hunters were my guides. This work has become an evolving piece in which I document, to the best of my ability, everything I've learned hunting chukars over the past 20 years and what I may learn in the years to come. Hopefully, every chukar hunter, whether a complete novice or the most rock hardened veteran, will find something useful within.
