from www.shootersshootfighting.com Shootfighting might be the most all round martial art the world has ever seen. The best styles of the world have contributed with their specialties. Stand up fight from muay thai, clinch and take downs from judo and Wrestling and from sambo and ju-jutsu the ground fight. Stand up fight and ground fight is equally emphasized. There is always something new to learn as a result of the versatility. Since you can specialize on the training that suits you, it never becomes boring. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, among other styles, has during the recent years showed the importance of well working skills in grappling. However, the stand up fight can not be left in the background. Shootfighting is the style that combines stand up fight, clinch and ground fight the best. It has become a success. Fighters who train according to the shootfighting concept dominates within the NHB. Here you can find fighters as Bas Rutten, Frank Shamrock, Randy Couture, Maurice Smith and others.

zSB(3,3) There was really only one true competitor to Royce Gracie and his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu style of fighting during that initial UFC tournament way back in 1993, and that person was a shoot fighter or shoot wrestler by the name of Ken Shamrock. Shamrock would eventually become the first Pancrase organization champion, immediately making him a part of shootfighting history. Though he fell quickly to his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu counterpart at UFC 1 and in the process lost a key style vs. style match up, his ability to submit kickboxer Patrick Smith with a heel hook solidified shootfighting as a martial arts style worth studying. Shootfighting History Shootfighting does not have a long history, even if the catch wrestling style that it was born from does. In the 1970's, a catch wrestler by the name of Karl Gotch taught several Japanese professional wrestlers catch wrestling. This style of fighting was often termed "hooking" or "shooting". Later, a rather famous professional wrestler by the name of Antonio Inoki- if you're wondering if he was the guy that fought Muhammad Ali in that now famous exhibition match, you're right- hosted several mixed martial arts matches where these techniques were put on display. Along with this, the style of martial arts used in these types of matches began to spring up everywhere, as did various fighting organizations backing it. This style of fighting was often termed

Shootfighting Techniques Shootfighting is one of the most popular forms of martial arts in the world. Originating in Japan in the 1970s, Shootfighting combines techniques of self-defense, grappling, strikes and submissions. Karl Gotch, a professional wrestler from Germany, taught a group of young Japanese wrestlers different "catch wrestling" techniques that rely on the use of submissions. One of these wrestlers, Antonio Inoki, began to host mixed martial arts matches using the techniques Gotch had taught, leading to the eventual creation of the art of Shootfighting.
