Truro Tae Kwon-Do Academy
Truro Tae Kwon-Do Academy (Truro GTI) is a successful martial arts school that teaches the world famous Korean Art of Self-Defence, Tae Kwon-Do. Our taekwondo school offers a mix of both traditional and modern Tae Kwon-Do training. Students are able to learn the ancient methods of self-defence alongside more streetwise techniques. Modern fitness and competition training are also a major part of the syllabus, as is yoga and eastern philosophy. Classes are mixed ability and mixed age group allowing families to train together and more able students are readily available to help the beginners. The Academy is part of the only organisation in Cornwall teaching the complete art of Tae Kwon-Do following the original traditional Tae Kwon-Do (ITF) syllabus, merged with the best parts of the newer sport-orientated WTF syllabus.

Taekwondo Blog
Lisa's personal taekwondo blog @ wisebytes.net Edit blog - password required
Some time in 2007, my Taekwondo blog became a category of my main Wisebytes blog . As discussed on that blog, I have not blogged on taekwondo much since I became a blackbelt because I became more aware of the politics in martial arts. As I have journeyed from 1st Dan onwards (I am now preparing for my 3rd Dan grading later this year), I am likely to blog more regularly on my main blog. On March 26, 2004, the http://taekwondo.wisebytes.net site was reorganised into a blog, since that is really what it was. Basically all the same content remains other than the list of things that I thought I needed to learn for my first grading Some time in mid-2003, I started looking after the official website for USMA Taekwondo, my taekwondo club run by Sabum Spiro Cariotis in Melbourne, Australia.
May 11, 2007
The more we learn, the less we know?
When I first started learning taekwondo, I didn't really think of myself as a "martial artist", I didn't feel like part of the martial arts community, nor did I see myself as a core part of my own taekwondo school. This is not a reflection on USMA or the people within it, because it is a most welcoming school for students of all ages and from all backgrounds. It is much more about the way in which I viewed myself, my capabilities, and my reasons for being there, compared with the way in which I viewed the other students in the school on these dimensions.

89. Steve Conway's Taekwondo WTF Patterns, Links, And Humour.
Features self-defense advice, humor, links and a reference for the Taegeuk patterns.
http://www.steveconway.net/
Welcome careful readers to my website on Taekwondo (or Tae Kwon-do). This site has WTF patterns (Taegeuk), self defense, links, a bit of humour, and some general information on this inspiring martial art. GOTO THE INDEX Taekwondo What is it? Well it is basically a Korean Martial Art which is based mainly around fast kicking, although there is punching and blocking. It is an Olympic sport, scientifically taught, has sparring and traditional set moves (patterns), and can be used for self defense. It also appear to be spelt in many different ways, my favorite is: Tea kwon-do. I say pass the Earl Gray old chap. What makes it different to other Martial Arts? The choice of any Martial Art really is one of preference, I have studied four and they all have strength and weakness. I would break Taekwondo into three areas. Practice moves like punching, certain kicks, moves and stepping. Patterns , set moves against invisible opponents -used for grading. Finally, sparring -light contact fighting (can be with self defense). Taekwondo sparring is excellent for two reasons. The first is that due to its nature and the use of protective gear, there is not a high number of injures (relatively). Secondly, its system is taught with a scientific rational (with speed, distance, and precision, being basic elements). If you have never done sparring, and are worried, don't be, you will be fine and I am sure that you will enjoy it (ladies don't be put off, those that I have trained with have found this quite fun). If you are looking to really get stuck in and inflict some pain, try another sport (and don't spar with me, I bruise easily). Generally most classes have some spare protective gear that they loan during the class for beginners to try out. As the student progresses, then the individual will pass
