Tai Chi, also known as Tai Chi Chuan, was handed down from different generations since its creation by Chang San-Feng. It was during the Sung Dynasty that this was introduced and from that moment on, there were numerous accounts of the form.
The form, or kung chia in Chinese language, are the different movements made through Tai Chi. One of the most common and famous form is the manipulation of the snake and the crane fighting. Master Chang, one of the advocates, copied this kind of fighting style and transformed it into a softer version of their coiling movements. The form that was developed had 13 postures that correspond with the trigrams and the Five Elements.

Introduction
With ordinary interface devices (e.g. keyboard, mouse, touch screen and ultrasonic pen), the interaction of humans with computers is restricted to a particular device at a certain location within a small movement area. A challenge in human computer interaction research is to create tangible interfaces that will make the interaction possible via augmented physical surfaces, graspable objects and ambient media (e.g. wall, tabletop and air), as well as making the interaction natural without the need for a hand held device. read more

- Lao Tzu

Tai chi is one of the arts of Chinese taoism, a tradition thousands of years old. This ancient tradition includes qigong, various ”hard” and ”soft” martial arts, acupuncture, philosophy, meditation, dance, poetry, painting and music. Tai chi chuan (”chuan” = fist or boxing) is said to have begun in the 12th century with the legendary Chang San-Feng . In essence, it began with the Tao Te Ching and the founder of taoism, Lao Tzu , in the fifth century before our era. The philosophy behind the tai chi movements is even older, going back three thousand years to the I Ching of King Wen. This classic scripture is equally as important for far eastern cultures as the Bible is for western cultures. Chang San-Feng is one of the sources for the ”Tai Chi Classics,” which existed as oral instructions long before they were edited and written down in the 19th century by Wu Yü-hsiang and his nephew Li I-yü. The former was a student of Yang Lu-Chan , founder of Yang family tai chi chuan and incorrectly thought to have been the first editor of the ”Tai Chi Classics”. These scriptures lay the foundation for all the tai chi styles practiced today by millions of people all over the world. (

Early mornings in Beijing and other cities and providences throughout China small and larger groups alike routinely gather wherever there is available open space to practice their Tai Chi or meditation in motion. Observing from the sidelines at first it might appear that they are insync with one another (and most likely on a cosmic scale their energies are merging), but in taking a closer look each exerciser is very much self absorbed into the art of inner meditation and are actually oblivious of the actions of their neighboring meditators. Similar scenes are popping up in the West in our city parks, college campuses, and grassy lawns.
Tai Chi is an exercise that exerts no strenuous action, there are no jumps, no aerobics, no running. The feet always rooted within the earth, the torso and arms making graceful, deliberate, and sequenced movements take on the form of physical poetry. Although many of these movements were originally derived from the

Internal Discipline The concept and practice of the core element of classical Tai Chi, Internal Discipline, are discussed extensively through out the Tai Chi DVD sby Stephen Hwa. A brief discussion is presented here: Internal Discipline enables you to initiate movements from the internal core of the body (the abdomen and back) rather than from the external parts of the body (the limbs), and cultivates and mobilizes your internal energy for health benefits and martial arts applications.
Example: Pushing the right hand forward with the arm and shoulder is an external movement. Internal movement uses the abdomen and the back moving the entire upper-quarter of the body, including the arm and hand, forward. NOTE: Pass cursor over images to see movements See RealVideo The arm and shoulder are relaxed with no movement relative to each other. The motion is entirely driven internally. In addition, other parts of the body are essentially not moving serving as the supporting structure for this movement.

    Early years
Shaolin Kung Fu As a teenager in the 1970s Stephen was faced with a situation many young men of the world face each and every day. The neighboring bullies were making day-to-day life miserable for Stephen and his friends. Stephen decided the best way to resolve the daily conflict was to learn Martial Arts, so that he would be able to protect his friends and family. At the young age of 13, Stephen began learning Bei Shaolin Kung Fu (Northern Shaolin) with Master Du Bao Kuen who was the top disciple of Master Dong Zhong Yi. During these early years Stephen was also privileged to study Kung Fu with Grand Master Lu Zheng Du. Stephen also began to learn Shuao Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) with Master Li Chung Xing and Er Mei Kung Fu with Grand Master Tang Jing Yuan. These skills gave Stephen the tools to make life easier for his friends and family when dealing with the neighboring bullies. Stephen continued to study Kung Fu throughout High School.
