Two dogs play tug-of-war zSB(3,3) Many dogs love to play tug of war - it is a healthy display of their predatory nature. There has been some debate over tug of war and dogs. Some feel the game causes aggressive behavior and dominance. However, the tug of war is actually mental and physical exercise for your dog. It is also a great way to reinforce the human-canine bond. The most important thing to remember is that there are rules that should be followed to keep the game from going overboard.
  • Before you begin playing tug of war with your dog, you should teach a release command, like drop it . This will help you stop the game if necessary. Choose a dog toy that is designed for tugging. The toy should be durable and flexible. The best tug toys are typically made out of rubber or a similar material and have a comfortable handle that keeps your hand away from the dog's mouth. Here are two good choices:
    Kong Tug

    Orbee-Tuff Tug
Play in a large area without distractions, clutter or dangerous objects. Outdoors is great, but the beauty of tug of war is that it can be safely played indoors if you have a bit of space. Make sure there is room for you both to move about and that there is nothing in the way should one of you back up.

What are the best numbers to make this a farm game fair?

Tug of War The young farm animals have been playing tug of war. With 3 piglets on one side and 2 kids (young goats) on the other side, the game ended in a tie. Similarly, with 3 calves on one side and 4 kids on the other side, the game ended in a tie. Which side, if either, will win if one side has 5 piglets and the other side has 2 calves?
The 5 piglets will win. If there were only 4 piglets on one side and 2 calves on the other side, it would be a tie. Here's one way to solve the puzzle. The puzzle tells you the following:
  • 2 kids = 3 piglets 3 calves = 4 kids Those facts mean the following are also true:
4 kids equal 6 piglets 3 calves equal 6 piglets Therefore, 1 calf = 2 piglets. It follows that 2 calves = 4 piglets. If 2 calves and 4 piglets would tie, then 5 piglets would beat 2 calves.

With their allegiance to both the Hippocratic oath and military guidelines sometimes in conflict, how do combat doctors decide whom to treat? The ethics behind whom American combat doctors should treat in a war zone is complicated. At its most challenging, it can leave physicians like myself and other military medical personnel feeling they're serving two masters: Hippocrates and Uncle Sam. The one calls for treating whomever needs our help; the other, through the agency of the armed forces, has restrictions on whom we can and cannot take under our care. In the end, I believe the battlefield doctor has a duty to a third master: him- or herself. For in the complex circumstances of a combat zone, decisions of how best to resolve this dichotomy between care-for-all and care-for-some should ultimately rest with each doctor. In my 20-plus years as a doctor in the military, I have served field units in the first Gulf War, the Balkans, and Turkey, and in February 2003 I deployed to the Gulf with the 10th Combat Support Hospital (CSH). It was during and after this deployment that the true intricacies of combat medical ethics really came home to me.
