The weight lifting you do to build up your arms and shoulders will produce some of your most eye-pleasing results. Few men are going to neglect the biceps in their workout program simply because they are very visible muscles. The problem is that most people will place too much emphasis on their biceps. You have to remember that this is a minor muscle group which gets indirect work in most of the bodybuilding exercises you do. It can be easy to overtrain your biceps. Often, the way to get your biceps growing is to ease up on the direct work. Abdominals, on the other hand, are often neglected. The outward appearance of them is more determined by diet than training and you are unlikely to show results while training for mass gain. They should, however, remain an emphasis of your weight lifting in a mass gain program. Strong abs are necessary to continue growing stronger as, at some level, they support all of the compound exercises necessary to build muscle fast. Additionally, it will be nice to uncover something when you do move to a cutting phase. So, don't neglect the abs, spend quality time with them and you will be rewarded.

"What I'll be performing here is the Standing Barbell Military Presses. What you want to do is bring the barbell behind the neck, control the weight. You don't want to move the weight too quickly, keep the motion constant. You want to do about three to four sets, eight to ten reps. You want to bring it to about below the neck and above the head. You do not want to extend the arms too far up, keep it slightly bent, keep the shoulders tight, control the motion throughout. And also something that you can throw in if you want to is you can do them half ways, that right there will kind of push more blood into the shoulders to give them a better pump.     Purpose
    Depending upon the desired outcome(s) of a given sport, an athlete may desire to move his/her body as quickly as possible in a given direction (i.e., to be as unstable as possible without losing ones balance) or to maintain his/her body position while executing a specific series of movement patterns (i.e., to be as stable as possible). The location of the center of mass of the body with respect to its base of support at any moment in time dictates where along the stability / instability continuum an athlete resides. Why? This lab will investigate the relationship between an individuals center of mass and his/her base of support for two sport-specific movement patterns with opposite desired outcomes.
    Rationale
    A nalysis of the location of the center of mass of athletes with respect to their base of support for a variety of sports reveals a shifting continuum within the extremes of maximum stability and maximum instability.
