Burloak Masters Celebrate a Successful Season
CNICHOLSON Last Sunday the masters celebrated the years' successes with a brunch and a friendly race. It is safe to say that the best team won in the race. As for the breakfast, it was great. Thanks to Joanne, James and the volunteers who made this a great event, and to Glen who made the team what it is.
Fall/Winter Schedule for Peewees and Bantams
CNICHOLSON The schedule for Peewees and Bantams starting November 1st is as below: Monday and Friday 4:30 p.m. to 6p.m. There will be a holiday break from Dec. 18th to Jan 2nd and then resume again
from Jan. 3rd to March 7th. The spring season will begin mid May. The cost for this session is $150.00

IRS Guidance - Amateur Sports Organizations
Overview
  • The Tax Reform Act of 1976 amended IRC 501(c)(3) to exempt from federal income taxation organizations organized and operated exclusively to foster national or international amateur sports competition, provided they do not furnish athletic facilities or equipment. The statute was amended in 1982 by adding IRC 501(j).
  • IRC 501(j)(1) provides generally that a "qualified amateur sports organization" that otherwise satisfies the requirements of IRC 501(c)(3) will qualify as exempt regardless of whether it provides athletic facilities or equipment and regardless of whether its membership is local or regional in nature. A "qualified amateur sports organization is"defined in IRC 501(j)(2) as an organization organized and operated exclusively to foster national or international amateur sports competition if it is also organized and operated primarily to conduct or to support and develop amateur athletes for national or international competition in sports.
  • Conforming changes were made to the charitable contribution provisions of IRC 170, 2055, and 2522. IRC 501(j) is effective retroactively to October 5, 1976, the date of the original amateur sports legislation under IRC 501(c)(3).

        Individual Membership and Online Tournament Registration In order to register for upcoming provincial or Atlantic Tennis Alliance (ATA) events, in Newfoundland or the rest of Atlantic Canada, players must be a member of their provincial association. Once a member, players will receive a username and password which they will need to keep on hand. To register for the membership and events: Players should go to www.tennisnl.ca and click 'Online Registration'. To become a member, fill out 'New Member Registration' or to register for a tournament, fill out 'Tournament Registration'. For all Newfoundland events, players home province is 'NL' but to register for any Atlantic event, players home province should be 'TC' (Tennis Canada).

    Location: Lake Blalock Park 1925 Sandy Ford Rd Chesnee, SC 29323
    Description: Come join Spartanburg Water for the 1st annual Pumpkin Pedal Halloween bicycle ride on Saturday, October 30th, 2010. The event lasts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will take cyclists on two scenic routes of 32 and 67 miles through Spartanburg Water’s lakes and surrounding watersheds. The recreational ride is open to bicyclists of all ages and/or abilities and is not a race. The cost of the event is $25.00 for participants registered by October 23rd and $30.00 the day of the event. Each participant will receive a Pumpkin Pedal T-shirt and a free lunch. All proceeds will go to the United Way.
