Fitness Suite
Sports and exercise have an important role to play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and in order to promote and encourage the health and wellbeing of our students and staff, Aberdeen College provide excellent fitness and gym facilities at our 4 centres. At our Gallowgate centre, located on the seventh floor of the tower block, our sports facilities are available to all staff and students at lunchtimes, evenings and at times when they are not being used by our sports students for their studies. The following indoor sports can be played in the gym hall area:
  • 5-a-side football Basketball Badminton Volleyball Unihock
Exercise classes are also taught in the gym hall. These include:
  • Body Conditioning An aerobic warm up followed by conditioning exercises for the whole body, designed to work all major muscle groups and target those key areas. ABS Blast A short class dedicated to toning and strengthening the muscles in the abdominal and lower back area for a firmer body and better posture.

102. ECSS European College Of Sport Science
Purpose of the college is the promotion of sport science at the European level. Includes details on programs and faculty.

Welcome Purpose of the College is the promotion of Sport Science at the European level. For that it is dedicated to the generation and dissemination of scientific knowledge concerning the motivation, attitudes, values, responses, adaption, performance and health aspects of persons engaged in sport. Sport means all forms of human movement which aims at expressing or improving physical fitness or mental well-being, forming or ameliorating social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels.
It shall advise European institutions as the EU and the Council of Europe on research problems and new research results available in the field of Sport Science.
The College’s activities are published in the ECSS News Bulletin. The main scientific endeavours of the College are its annual Congresses. Since 2001 the ECSS has launched its own official peer reviewed journal the EJSS. This journal is free of charge for all ECSS members consisting of original research articles and intra- and interdisciplinary reviews of the sport science literature from sport scientists worldwide. Persons with a university degree at the master’s level in sport science or related disciplines can apply for regular membership, students may apply for student membership.
