Brain machine inteface snoops on human visual imagination
According to Nature , scientists have performed experiments, in which they were able to monitor individual neurons in a human brain associated with specific visual memories. The volunteers, having their brains implanted with electrodes, were able to control images on screen by changing firing rates in individual brain cells.

The Motus Movement Monitor is a new concept in measuring movement disorders that utilizes a unique miniature solid state gyroscope (not gravity sensitive accelerometers). It has been successfully used to quantify: tremor (resting, posture, kinetic), rapid pronation/supination of the hand, arm swing, lateral truncal sway, leg stride, spasticity (pendulum drop test), dyskinesia and alternating dystonia. The Motus gyros sense only rotational motion and are ideal for quantifying human movement since skeletal joints produce rotational motion. It is

Welcome! Who We Are The Organization for Human Brain Mapping ( OHBM ) is the primary international organization dedicated to neuroimaging research. The organization was created in 1995 and has since evolved in response to the explosion in the field of human functional neuroimaging and its movement into the scientific mainstream. One of the primary functions of the organization is to provide an educational forum for the exchange of up-to-the-minute and groundbreaking research across modalities exploring Human Brain Mapping. It does this through a growing membership and an annual conference, held in different locations throughout the world. 17th Annual Meeting - Save the Date!

http://www.biomedical-engineering.nl/
The University of Groningen is a classical university covering most of the classical disciplines and many newer ones as well. It offers a great many high quality, interdisciplinary programmes, among others in life sciences. Next to the MSc programme in Biomedical Engineering, the Institute of Life Sciences The University Medical Center Groningen plays a prominent role in the Biomedical Engineering programme. Many experts – doctors and engineers – from this hospital are involved in this MSc programme and bring the students in contact with present clinical practice, which increasingly depends on new technologies developed by biomedical engineers. The University Medical Center plays a leading role in the application of new medical techniques, and thus is an ideal basis for practical training. A biomedical engineer trained in Groningen has learned to co-operate in interdisciplinary teams and to communicate effectively with medical doctors, other engineers, biologists and biochemists. In Groningen there are three Master’s courses:
  • A regular Master’s course in Biomedische technologie
  • An Erasmus Mundus Master’s course in Biomedical engineerning
  • An E-learning Master’s course
