From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search Process engineers design, construct and operate plants Chemical engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the application of physical science (e.g., chemistry and physics ), and life sciences (e.g., biology microbiology and biochemistry ) with mathematics , to the process of converting raw materials or chemicals into more useful or valuable forms. In addition to producing useful materials, modern chemical engineering is also concerned with pioneering valuable new materials and techniques - such as nanotechnology fuel cells and biomedical engineering Chemical engineering largely involves the design, improvement and maintenance of processes involving chemical or biological transformations for large-scale manufacture . Chemical engineers ensure the processes are operated safely, sustainably and economically. Chemical engineers in this branch are usually employed under the title of process engineer . A related term with a wider definition is chemical technology. A person employed in this field is called a chemical engineer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search Chemical Engineering is a type of engineering that was started in the early 20th century . Before this time, chemical plants were designed by chemists, who were only trained to work on a small scale. Chemical engineering combines the jobs of a chemist and an industrial engineer . This makes factories more efficient and chemicals much cheaper. Chemical engineering uses physics (the science of moving objects and forces chemistry (the science of substances ), and mathematics . There are many different types of jobs for people with degrees in chemical engineering. Some new topics in chemical engineering include environmental sanitation at factories (making certain nature is not hurt by the factories), types of energy other than those from gas or oil ) and biological engineering

This stems from the fact that the discipline of chemical engineering is founded on mathematics and incorporates all of the basic sciences such as chemistry physics and biology The disciplinary definition would be that chemical engineering is the profession in which knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, gained by study, experience and practice, is applied with judgement to develop economic and safe ways of converting raw materials or chemicals into more useful products to benefit mankind. The occupational definition would be that chemical engineering is a field that deals with industrial and natural processes that involve the chemical, physical or biological transformation of matter or energy into forms useful for mankind, economically and safely without compromising the environment.

A person who practices chemical engineering is called a chemical engineer . Those chemical engineers involved in the design and maintenance of large-scale manufacturing processes are known as process engineers Chemical engineering is applicable to a wide range of technologies , including the production of energy, materials, electronics , and pharmaceuticals, the processing of food, and environmental protection and remediation. Development of the high-quality materials and large-scale processes characteristic of industrialized economies is a feat of chemical engineering. As ecological sustainability takes on ever greater significance in the twenty-first century, there is likely to be a sustained demand for chemical engineers to collaborate with ecologists, mechanical engineers, and others in planning eco-industrial projects. Such projects would integrate several different industrial and biological processes into synergistic complexes to produce materials and products needed by human society.

    What is MEMS technology?
Posted on No Comments Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), sometimes also written as micro-electro-mechanical MicroElectroMechanical or microelectronic and microelectromechanical systems is the technology of very small mechanical devices driven by electricity. It is all about the tiniest technology and it merges at the nano-scale into nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) and nanotechnology. In Japan, MEMS is also referred to as micromachines while in Europe, it is known as Micro Systems Technology. MEMS are without doubt a special piece of technology. MEMS are made up of components between 1 to 100 micrometres in size (that is between 0.001 to 0.1 mm) and MEMS devices generally range in size from 20 micrometres (that is 20 millionths of a metre) to a millimetre. They usually consist of a central unit that processes data, the microprocessor and several components that interact with the outside such as microsensors. Since MEMS has such a vital role in our industry today, it is important to have a company that is highly capable and trusted in developing the technology. One of the established MEMS foundries in the world is

often regarded as the flagship of engineering disciplines
    WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
Chemical engineers deal with many aspects of industry. They design and work on different types of industrial plants to produce from raw materials a wide range of bulk products, which are then used for making various items. These include many items that already exist in homes, for example paints and varnishes for decorating, dyes for clothes, foam for bed mattresses or fire extinguishers, plastics, shampoos and cosmetics, rubber for car and bicycle tyres, engine fuels and lubricating oils, using gas and steam for producing power, extracting gas and oil from underground or the sea bed, making medicines and vitamins, treating and cleaning water for drinking and other uses. The chemical engineer will also be involved in making the products as efficiently as possible so that costs are kept low to keep up with the competition. They are responsible for safety and improving and keeping the environment clean.
