    Computational Engineering
Computation is a key tool that helps translate the growing understanding of the physics of fluids and solids to the design of the next generation of vehicles and manufacturing systems. In the materials arena, computational research is centered around theoretical and computational aspects of materials science, establishing protocols for the modeling of structural evolution and thermomechanical behavior across multiple-length scales. Computational fluid mechanics is concerned with the simulation of viscous flow past complex configurations with application to aircraft and ship design. Once the flow characteristics are well understood, the techniques may be applied to optimize the shape of a structure over which the fluid is flowing. Faculty

Message From The Vice Chancellor
Balochistan, the largest geographic segment of the country, though the most backward area, is rich in mineral potential and talented progress friendly human stock. It is now recognized across the country that the development and prosperity of the nation will eventually depend on untapped resources available in Balochistan. This awareness and recognition enhances the Balochistan and the responsibilities of the young generation of the province. They have to equip themselves with the latest knowledge, strategies and skills that they may be able to play their role in the development of the country, successfully and with a sense of pride. Keeping in view the above, Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology, Khuzdar is ambitious to play its role in the development of the country. Modern technologies are being introduced and the present infrastructure is being enhanced to meet the rapidly changing requirements of the age. University Computerization, Digital Library, Fully equipped Labs with internet facility and LAN / Networking to connect the University with the WAN (other Universities of the country) through PERN, were the dreams of yesterday and the achievements of today. I hope, the future will be even better, Insha Allah. Center for Computational Engineering
MIT's Center for Computational Engineering (CCE) was established in 2008. The broad mission of the CCE is to support computational engineering broadly defined as the development of methodologies that have strong demonstrated relevance to important engineering disciplines and problems. The center will have faculty and research partners from across the School of Engineering, as well as other departments and units involved in computational engineering around the Institute. The specific mission and strategic plan of the CCE are currently under development, but fully developed the center will play an active role both in both research- and education-related activities and objectives of the School of Engineering, and at MIT more broadly. The Center for Computational Engineering expects to engage and participate in the following activities:
  • Presenting a unified face of computational engineering within MIT and to external constituencies Coordinating among MIT faculty who work in computational engineering to initiate and organize larger group efforts to raise research funds Investigating various possibilities for interdisciplinary PhD degree offerings in computational engineering Incorporating the existing Computation for Design and Optimization (CDO) master's program into CCE Facilitating and coordinating courses in computational engineering Participating in Institute-wide discussions on computational components of undergraduate education

Single Iteration's experienced analysts use computer modeling and simulation, not only to determine feasibility more quickly, but also to provide key design insights into performance limiting effects not readily revealed by testing. For rapid development of high performance systems, tools such as finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) provide a predictive environment from which to gauge the outcome of a design approach.
Our tools include:

Analysis Software Packages
ANSYS Professional
Our primary analysis workhorse, ANSYS Professional provides the backbone for feasibility evaluations of component and system concepts. We use ANSYS Professional to establish preliminary finite element analysis (FEA) models of complex heat transport and associated thermophysical effects, like temperature-dependent heating and thermal strain, which are prevalent in high performance thermal equipment.

Computational Engineering at STFC Daresbury Laboratory
Professor David Emerson (Head of Group)
The Computational Engineering Group combines expertise in fluid flow modelling with the latest high-performance computing solutions to enable the solution of complex fluid dynamic problems. The group has been collaborating with university and industry for many years and specialises in high performance parallel computing, turbulence and combustion modelling, microfluidics and non-equilibrium gas dynamics. The group is one of the world's leading players in the modelling and design of microfluidic devices. This exciting new field offers many modelling challenges because, at such small scales, the fluid may not behave the same as that experienced in the macroscopic world.
