Company with CS Technology Wins Contest Students in the Interactive Computing Everywhere Lab in the Computer Science Department invented a technology called “Wireless Pixels.” A local Utah County start-up, Pixelture, Inc., licensed this technology and recently won the grand prize in Utah’s Digital Media Concept to Company contest. “Wireless Pixels can change the way people meet and work together,” said Dan Olsen, CS Professor and director of the ICE lab, “With Wireless Pixels everyone in the room can participate and use as many screens as they can afford to install.” more
Welcome Back, Bill Barrett!
After three years of service, Barrett is returning to BYU from his calling as president of the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission. While Barrett is somewhat sad to be leaving the beautiful wooded areas of Wisconsin, his usual good humor shines through.
“It’s very hard to leave,” he said of being a mission president.  “There’s this completely other life with hundreds, even thousands of friends that have become very dear to you, but no one else knows anything about … It’s like leading a double life, but in a good way.”

Research Spotlight: PRISM Lab
The Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Sensor Machines (PRISM) Lab focuses on the interface between signal processing, pattern recognition, neural computation, robotics and sensor systems. Our interest is in understanding how sensory systems (man-made or biological) perceive, interact with, learn from and adapt to their environments under a number of modalities, including chemical, acoustic, visual, and physiological. In the process, we draw motivation from multiple disciplines, from neurobiology to perceptual psychology. For more information please visit the PRISM website.
