Meet the Rocky Mountain Chapter
The Rocky Mountain Chapter is the local chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society professionals in the Rocky Mountain region. The chapter, a 401c3 non-profit organization, was founded in 1978 as a part of what was then the Human Factors Society. The chapter offers networking opportunities and conducts professional programs of interest to human factors engineers, product designers, industrial psychologists, corporate ergonomists, software engineers, safety engineers and professionals in related fields. Programs are generally held every month except for July, August and December. Communication to members and the wider community is accomplished through this web site and by monthly newsletters and e-mail. The Rocky Mountain Chapter is led by an Executive Council modeled after the national structure. A full council consists of the President, Secretary, Treasurer, two at-large Directors, the immediate Past President, President-Elect, Secretary-Elect and Treasurer-Elect. The Executive Council conducts the day-to-day business of the chapter in accordance with the RMC Constitution and RMC Bylaws . Nominations and elections are held each Fall and a chapter-wide business meeting is held once a year.

Human Factors and Ergonomics are disciplines devoted to an understanding of the relationships between humans and technology. This is an interdisciplinary applied area that seeks to understand the human factors that apply to the design of systems and devices of all kinds, and to apply that knowledge to achieve compatibility in the design of interactive systems of people, machines, and environments to ensure their effectiveness, safety, and ease of performance. The term arises from engineers' interest in the human factors governing the efficiency of the operator within a human-machine system.
