The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) is an educational program which combines college electives in Military Science and Leadership with practical common task, physical and management training. The students who excel in our program generally are classified as a "SAL" or a Scholar-Athlete-Leader. If this describes you, we encourage you to join the Bay State Battalion, the only Army ROTC program in Central Massachusetts. Army ROTC courses are designed to train you to be an officer in the United States Army. In doing so, we also prepare men and women for success in college and development in any chosen career. To help you succeed, the cadre of the Bay State Battalion will mentor you closely and work with you to ensure the achievement of your goals. The program teaches you to excel in small group leadership, a skill sought by employers. ROTC also instills strong moral values, a warrior and fitness ethos, as well as many other benefits, in order to ensure lifelong success in any endeavor. A significant reason for joining Army ROTC is a guaranteed job in the Army after college. Upon completion of school, you will serve as an officer in the Army in one of 16 basic branches doing a variety of jobs and gaining hands-on managerial experience that you can get no where else. One thing you will definitely be doing is leading soldiers. Officers are the leaders of the Armed Forces, and Army ROTC is the Best Leadership Course in America.
