(n/t) posted by Garrett (ThinkQuest Team 20991) on March 14, 2002 at 20:54:33: Note: We have been having trouble with the message board file being unexpectedly erased, without explanation. Presumably this has something to do with our ThinkQuest server account (we haven't yet been able to contact ThinkQuest). At present, we still have File Transfer access, so we were able to upload a new, blank message board (we apologize for the loss of threads that were currently in progress - if you somehow know the file names, the files are still there). We don't know how long we will have this access. Additionally, the boards could be erased again at any time. Most ThinkQuest sites tend to have an active life of between 1-2 years. This one is still heavily accessed, 4 years and over 11,000 messages after we first created it. We realize the message boards are an important part site for many people (thanks to the incredibly helpful 'regulars'), and we hope to keep them online as long as possible. At some point, though, we may be forced to call it quits. In case this happens, we encourage you to post and e-mail links to other good math message boards. We will try to list them here as well as on our "Links" page.

If your kids are anything like mine, the joy of school being out is wearing off and now they are searching for things to do. As a parent, this is an opportunity to introduce them to games, puzzles and activities that will keep their minds growing instead of atrophying over the summer. Over the last several years, more and more research is showing the long term benefits of puzzles in keeping the brain healthy and growing. Here are a couple resources to get you going: 1. Try some challenging puzzle games together. One of my favorite resources is

Extractions: 08-11-2004, 08:48 PM I think that I might have Dyscalculia but I need to be able to prove it to my counselor. Is there any free online screenings? If there isn't, is there anyway that I can find out if I have this without too much of a costly expense? Where can I buy a test? What kind of doctor would I have to go see to be tested or screened for this disorder as well as other math disorders? How do people find out if they have this disorder? How do you prove that you have this disorder to your teachers and the school in general? Don't you need proper documentation?
