Pour éviter tout mal entendu, il faut commencer par rappeler que Hegel ne peut pas être accusé d'accepter l'existence de hiérarchies ou d'inégalités naturelles parmi les hommes. Contre ceux qui veulent retrouver l'âme dans l'anatomie, Hegel écrit : Vouloir ériger la physiognomonie, voire entièrement la cranioscopie, au rang de sciences, ce fut là une des plus creuses lubies, plus creuse encore qu'une signatura rerum , lorsqu'on s'imaginait à partir de leur structure connaître la vertu curative des plantes.( L'esprit n'est pas plus dans les chromosomes que dans la forme du crâne. Les manifestations de " racisme " qu'on peut trouver chez Hegel, comme chez de très nombreux auteurs du XIX e siècle vise la culture, éventuellement font référence à la géographie et à la vieille théorie des climats mais non à la biologie. C'est le positivisme scientiste qui tentera de fonder le racisme sur les " lois de la nature ". L'esprit, pour Hegel, trouve sa plus haute réalisation dans la civilisation chrétienne occidentale, mais pas chez l'aryen ou l'homme blanc.

Giancarlo Giurovich, in memoria Hegel è convinto che la propria opera giunge nel momento storico in cui finalmente la filosofia può cessare di essere solo «amore del sapere» per diventare sapere effettivo. Ciò significa anche la fine dei «filosofi» nel vero senso della parola: dopo che la filosofia ha raggiunto il suo obiettivo, può esistere solo la storia della filosofia. Tale idea è connessa ad un punto nevralgico del suo pensiero: la concezione di uno Spirito continuamente spinto in avanti sulla strada della verità, grazie alla costatazione dell'inadeguatezza dei risultati fino ad allora raggiunti. Un ruolo peculiare nella storia della verità è svolto dalla rivelazione religiosa: la verità si identifica con Dio, la rivelazione fa conoscere Dio come Spirito. Ciò pone però in primo piano una difficoltà interna al discorso di Hegel: se lo Spirito è giunto alla piena autoconoscenza, perché il pensiero umano, che è sempre pensiero di Dio nell'uomo, non è nella pienezza della verità e sembra essersi fermato ad una tappa precedente? Un'ulteriore difficoltà appare sullo sfondo della concezione di Hegel del tempo: esso è inteso come l'inquietudine dell'Assoluto, il sintomo del fatto che lo Spirito non ha riposo e non può mai cessare di agire e superare sé stesso. Anche se Hegel tenta di fondere insieme le immagini del cerchio (che raffigura una verità in sé dialetticamente conclusa) e della retta (che indica il continuo avanzamento), la stessa natura del tempo sembra escludere l'esistenza di una verità definitiva. Una possibile soluzione sembra suggerita dai passi in cui si presagisce lo spostamento della patria della verità dall'Europa occidentale ad altre terre: per esempio l'America e le nazioni slave. Piuttosto che l'emergere di una verità diversa, sembra qui trattarsi della stessa verità che trova nuovi luoghi di espansione. Raggiunta la verità assoluta, allo Spirito resta così aperto un compito soprattutto educativo.

    Extractions: In 1801 Hegel finished his study at Jena University and became a Privatdozent (an Instructor) there. While he worked together with Schelling on the publication of (1802-03), Hegel wrote the majority of the articles published in the journal, although they were anonymous, but above all, Hegel wrote and published Differenz des Fichteschen und Schellingschen Systems der Philosophie (1801) . The basic thesis of this article was to demonstrate that, though Fichte's and Schelling's philosophies attempted both to unify subjectivity and objectivity (Fichte tried from subjectivity, while Schelling did more from objectivity - from nature -), the authentic Philosophy of Identity must be beyond the opposition of subjective Idealism and objective Idealism. Interesting enough Hegel placed the die Wissenschaft (Science = Philosophy) at the highest, the Religion at the second, and the Kunst (Arts) at the third. Although Hegel was under the strong influence of Schelling, he showed in this article, in clear distinction from Schelling's approach, his own independent conception of what Philosophy was about.

Links Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel The Difference between Fichte's and Schelling's System of Philosophy , in which he argues for Schelling success and Fichte's failure in the project of completing Kant's transcendental idealism. Hegel wrote a number of essays during his stay at Jena. In On the Scientific Modes of Treatment of Natural Law-Its Place in Practical Philosophy and Its Relationship to the Positive Science of Law , often refered to as the essay on Natural Law, he criticizes both British empirical and Kantian formal approached to natural law. His argument is that empricism forms conclusions that are limited by its contexts and materials, therefore it is unable to form propositions that are universally valid regarding the concepts of reflective consciousness to social and political experience or the concepts of social and political institutions. The problem with formalist conclusions is that they remain insubstantial, and too abstract, failing to form a concrete link between human reason and human experience. Hegel felt philosophical science had the responsibility to definitvely link the develpment of the rational powers of the human mind to lived experience. In 1807 Hegel published The Phenomenology of Spirit Hegel worked as an editor of a newspaper in Bamberg, then from 1808-1815 he was a philosophy teacher and the headmaster at a gymnasium in Nuremberg.
