Since the unarmed techniques of Aikido originally derive from weapons techniques we train with the traditional weapons of sword and staff on a weekly basis. People train in Aikido for a number of reasons. It is a system of self defense and great exercise. In addition it is also a form of moving meditation with a strong spiritual underpinning and even serves as the model for various systems of conflict resolution. The emphasis on movement and redirection of force make Aikido the perfect martial art for those who are not physically large or powerful individuals.

This page was first made in late 1994 Latest update: Jan 2005 The Korean Aikido Federation in Seoul, South Korea, is now well established. The Teacher is Mr. Yun Ick-ahm , known as Gwangjang-nim in Korean. He was previously well known as a 6th Dan Hapkido and 5th Dan Taekwondo instructor. He also spent time in Thailand studying Muay-Thai Boxing and played a major role in introducing it to Korea. In his youth he even became the All Korean National Kickboxing Champion. Later, on a trip to Taiwan he came across Aikido, and converted to this art after meeting Kobayashi Sensei. His main contention with the Korean arts is that they are too aggressive. He established his Aikido network in Korea during the early 1990s, has visited Japan many times ( Kobayashi Dojo in Tokorozawa), and to date, has attained the rank of 4th Dan. Tekisuikan NTNUI Aikidoklubb består av ca 40 medlemmer, og har et veldig godt sosialt miljø. Det er alltid en god og hyggelig stemning på trening og vi møtes ofte for andre sosiale aktiviteter i tillegg til treningen (filmkveld, aikidofest, tur på café eller restaurant). Vi trener både på Idrettsbygget på Gløshaugen og på Idrettssenteret på Dragvoll, og holder faste treninger med instruktør hver av ukedagene mandag til torsdag. Vi arrangerer også seminar med inviterte instruktører fra inn- og utland flere helger i semesteret. Tekisuikan NTNUI Aikidoklubb er en undergruppe av studentidrettslaget NTNUI for studenter og ansatte ved Norsk Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet i Trondheim . Klubben er også tilknyttet Norges Aikidoforbund Norges Kampsportforbund og . Klubben har også nære forbindelser til instruktører fra Sverige, Tyskland, Frankrike og selvsagt Japan. Vi har også et veldig vennskapelig forhold til den andre aikidoklubben i Trondheim:
