It's not difficult to learn – a quick 30-minute lesson will give you the basics and have you on your way. Snowbiking is allowed on all of Hoodoo's runs. To snowbike at Hoodoo, you must have a snowbike license, which you can get by taking a lesson or a checkride if you have a license from another ski area. The lesson costs $40 and includes the rental of the snowbike of your choice . You may trade for different snowbike types throughout the day at no extra charge.

There are two skis, one in the back and one in the front. The front ski is attached to the handlebars for steering. Normally, snowbikes are for downhill only. You take them on a ski lift to the top and make your way back down to the bottom and there is no pedaling involved. I have however, seen a snowbike adapted with a tractor style tread in the rear to pedal up as well. While there are some variations that adapt normal bike frames to snowbikes, most snowbikes are made for the snow only.
