Extractions: Addison Oaks Fall Classic - September 16, 2009 The Addison Oaks Fall Classic took place last Sunday. The trail was dry and fast and the sun shined all day for this MMBA Point Series cross-country race. The Scurrs greeted riders at the registration table and helped with the transponder strips that looped right on to the brake cable of each bike; no ankle bracelets! As for the racers, Reid competed in the elite/expert single speed category and took 2nd place. His family came to cheer him on. Mark T. and Bernie raced with the expert men and placed 9th and 16th, respectively, in their age groups. Nikki and Jen T. applauded their achievements at the finish line. All expert racers completed four laps, while sport riders raced three. Jen placed 3rd with her sport women category and Mark H. ended his ride after two laps. Everybody enjoyed the Addison course. There's only one race left in the CPS the Fun Promotions event at Pando so the MMBA rankings will be final as of September 27! ~ J. Hoinka

BelGioioso Elite Series overall winner Abby Strigel (Trek Stores of Madison) was beaten for the first time this WORS season by 3-time former WORS Elite Series champion Sara Kylander-Johnson (Trek Mountain CO-OP). With 10 individual race wins in 2010 for the series overall, Strigel is now the first person to ever win the WORS BelGioioso Elite Overall four times. In the men’s race, Mike Phillips (Adventure 212 / Specialized) rode away with the $800 purse for first place at the Wigwam MTB Challenge, while Tristan Schouten (Mafia / Felt) was crowned 2010 WORS Elite Series overall winner in absentia.... Upon hearing the news, TS Events made efforts hold the event in 2010, consistent with our original ten years of serving as your event promoters. Our gracious sponsors, staff, volunteers and check point teams were all on board to revive the event this summer. We further ensured the use of our shower trailer and other very important event supplies to ensure you the event experience you have becomed accustomed to enjoying. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain the permit from Marathon County Parks to hold the event in 2010. So it is with extreme sadness that I see this event lapse in 2010. We are currently considering other venue options and will keep you posted on new developments. Thank you all for making 24-9 into the largest 24 hour race in the midwest and one of the best in the country! Without you, it wouldn't have happened. We hope to provide you the event experience you came to enjoy during the first ten years of 24-9 again soon.
