In Russia, he was famously known as a brilliant child prodigy as well as one of the last outstanding talents of his era, before the collapse of the U.S.S.R. At the remarkable age of five, he was already an exceptional student at a music school, and gave his first performance only half a year later. Then, still only seven, Repin was accepted by one of the world’s finest teachers, Zakhar Bron, and later grew to represent the cohort of maters raised by the famous Russian teacher In 1982, he won the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Lublin, and then the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition in 1989. Like Repin, many winners of first-place violin and piano prizes from the Queen Elisabeth Competition were from the Soviet school, with many of them also later emigrating from the U.S.S.R. to Belgium. Vadim Repin is adored by western classical music lovers. Recognized for his amazing passion and skill, he is invited to perform in the best concert halls and with the best orchestras, not to mention offered generous exclusive contracts with prestigious record companies. It is no wonder he receives such enthusiastic reception by mass media. He also stands out from the global musical community for having developed a brilliant career – without anyone else’s help. Vadim Repin currently lives in France, paying occasional visits to Russia to grace audiences with rare concerts. The renowned violinist devotes much of his energy to chamber music, one of the most subtle of all performing arts. Chamber music carries a dramatic impact not only for more sophisticated audiences, but also is capable of luring broader audiences to the fine art.
