Fatalities of the Limelight I : Hsu Hsin-liangThe Man Who Would be King Tuesday June 29, by Jerome F. Keating Ph.D. Fatalities of the Limelight I: Hsu Hsin-liangThe Man Who Would be King What do you say about a man who runs for president and receives only 79,429 of 12,786,671 valid votes cast? Yet the man still thinks he should be president. What do you say about a man who leaves one party, the Kuomintang (KMT), to join the founding a second, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), only to abandon them when they twice refuse him as their presidential candidate? What do you say when that same man then goes to a smaller third political party, the New Party (NP) in search of a new running mate for the presidency? What do you say about a man who constantly founds and/or joins increasingly smaller alliances in search of one that will finally let him lead its parade? What finally do you say about a man who in private circles has a reputation for smoke-filled, back room political deals and visits to questionable hostess bars and yet publicly poses as a fasting monk who will “right the wrongs” of democracy?

Structure paper mop board facing
Hsu, Hsing-Yuan; BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1) Field of the Invention
The invention herein relates to an improved structure paper mop board facing in which the paper mop board facing is adhesively attached to the floor section and consists of a number of a pliable and, furthermore, disconnected and cross-laterally arrayed three-dimensional pattern of diagonal ridges on a plane surface; as such, when the paper mop is moved along a floor surface, the ends of the three-dimensional pattern come into direct contact with the floor surface and, furthermore, mop the floor such that dust is effectively held fast onto the three-dimensional pattern, which attracts by absorption the greater bulk of the dust encountered and enables the improved structure paper mop board of the invention herein to achieve the efficient removal of dust from floors.
2) Description of the Prior Art
Conventional paper mop board facing structures, as indicated in FIG. 1, have a planar bottom area 3 and, therefore, when the non-weave fabric adhesively attached to the mop board facing is wiped across a floor surface, the planar bottom area 3 is situated against the floor surface to enable the mopping of the floor, the edges along the four sides directly mopping the floor such that dust is only held fast onto the four sides of the board facing, with only a smaller amount of dust clinging to the center of the board facing; as a result, dust cannot be efficiently attracted onto the paper mop board facing.

During the Warring States period in ancient China (403-221 B.C.E.), chaos engendered numerous philosophical schools, dominated by the Confucians, the Mohists, the Legalists, the Taoists, and, finally, the Tillers. Significant elements of eremitism emerged from this last movement. Graham meticulously identifies the literary sources and traditions about the Nung-chia or "School of the Tillers" and provides important information about the hermits of this era and philosophies of politics, society, and eremitism. Graham's essay is divided into seven sections, and one does no better than to follow his outline.
  • Hsu Hsing, the Tillers, and the legend of Shen-nung Shen-nung in the Legalist Shang-tzu The realm of Shen-nung as the Tiller's Utopia The TIllers' version of the legend of Po Yi and Shu Ch'i The Utopias of the Tillers and the Taoists Shen-nung and the Yellow Emperor The social background of the Tillers
  • The first occurrence of Tillers thought occurs in Mencius, that imminent disciple of Confucius, dated to 315 B.C.E. In conversation with Mencius, a certain Hsu Hsing, representative of Tiller thought, argues that the king (or emperor) should plow his own land side by side with the people instead of maintaining his own granaries and treasuries, a clear proof that he exploits the people. Mencius appeals to the logic of division of labor. No reply is given by the Mencius writer. Hsu Hsing then argues that all goods should be available at the same fixed price. Mencius replies that price must be determined by quality and that goods range in cost accordingly.

    Abstract:
The system for power management and preventing unexpected acceleration contains a microcontroller unit, a tact switch, an electronic regulation device for preventing unexpected acceleration, a voltage detection switch, one or more light emitting diodes, resistors, capacitors, transistors, and an inductor. After a battery is installed on the remote-controlled toy car, the battery's electricity will flow through the electronic regulation device and the voltage detection switch. On the other hand, the microcontroller unit receives signals from a detection and reception circuit and controls the throttle through a servo motor. As such, the battery power and the received signals are monitored to prevent the remote-controlled toy car from unexpected acceleration.
    Claims:
A system for power management and preventing unexpected acceleration for a remote-controlled toy car, comprising a microcontroller unit, a tact switch, an electronic regulation device for preventing unexpected acceleration, a voltage detection switch, a light emitting diode, a plurality of resistors, a plurality of capacitors, a plurality of transistors, and an inductor;wherein said electronic regulation device and said voltage detection switch monitor a voltage from a battery of said remote-controlled toy car; said microcontroller unit receives signals from a detection and reception circuit of said remote-controlled toy car and controls a throttle through a servo motor, both of said remote-controlled toy car, so as to prevent unexpected acceleration from said remote-controlled toy car.

Nation-building Party formed On 6 October 1996, A new pro-independence political party was formally established in Taiwan. The party was named Nation-building Party (NBP) in Taiwanese, and Taiwan Independence Party (TAIP) in English. Its leaders have declared that building an independent Taiwan nation is the primary goal of the party. For Internet-surfers with "Big-5" character capabilities, the new party has information available at their TAIP-site in Taiwan The driving force behind the new political party are several leading members of Taiwan Association of University Professors (TAUP). The most prominent are professors Lin Shan-tien and Li Yung-chih of National Taiwan University, and Prof. Chuang Chi-ming of Tam Kang University. Prof. Lin is the chief spokesman. Until the end of 1995, these professors were ardent DPP supporters, and were popular and sought-after speakers at DPP election rallies. However, after a series of disappointing vacillations by the present DPP-leadership and a perceived weakening of the DPP's adherence to the founding principle of pursuing Taiwan independence, the university professors, supported by a number social organizations, decided to go ahead and prepare for the formation of a fully pro-independence political party. The attempts by DPP leaders Shih Ming-teh and Hsu Hsin-liang to play political power games, first by cooperating with the pro-unification New Party and recently with the ruling KMT, has deeply disappointed many of the DPP's core supporters. In December 1995, then-chairman Shih Ming-teh orchestrated a "grand reconciliation" with the pro-unification New Party and aligned himself with the NP in an unsuccessful attempt to run for the presidency of the Legislative Yuan. In the Spring of 1996, in a peculiar zig-zag change of course, the new chairman of the DPP, Mr. Hsu Hsing-liang, offered to join the KMT in forming a coalition government.

Edit Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Associated with Hypercalcemia without Parathyroid Disorders Yung-Hsiang Hsu Hsing I Chen Acute lung injury (ALI) can be induced by various causes. The occurrence of ALI associated with hypercalcemia has rarely been reported and the mechanisms are unknown. In the present study, we reported the clinical manifestation and pathological findings in patients with hypercalcemia and metastatic calcification. In addition, we addressed the possible mechanism and the preventive strategy for the acute episode of ALI due to hypercalcemic crisis. We encountered five patients with long-term malignancy of various origins. They displayed hypercalcemia and metastatic calcification in the kidney and stomach. One case with transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder developed acute episode of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The plasma calcium was elevated to above 5 mM. Simultaneously, He manifested ARDS followed by ALI. The pathological examination revealed severe alveolar edema with multiple calcification. In the other three cases, the plasma calcium level ranged from 3.1 to 4.4 mM and ARDS or ALI did not occur. One patient with

    THE PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFULS
T wo weeks ago The Strait Scoop put former Taipei Mayor Chen Shui-bian (DPP) under the microscope , focusing on his humiliating public retreat from his former, hardline Taiwan separatist campaign platform. This week we examine, very briefly, the ongoing mudwrestling contest between the two other leading contenders for the Presidency of the Republic of China, former Taiwan Provincial Governor James Soong (Independent), and current ROC Vice-President Lien Chan (KMT).
    A THREE WAY RACE
A ccording to every poll conducted since James Soong officially declared his independent candidacy, the pro-reunification, reformist Soong has led by a comfortable margin. Until recently Soong’s ratings remained well above 30%, while Chen’s ratings hovered in the low 20% range, with third-ranked Lien Chan trailing in the 10 to 15% range. Former political prisoner and China scholar Li Ao (New Party), and former DPP Chairman Hsu Hsing-liang’s (Independent) ratings have remained in the 1 to 2% range. The ROC’s Y2K presidential election is unlikely to result in a president elect with a clear popular majority. Instead the contest is going to be a three way race, with the winner squeaking by with a narrow plurality.
