I was born and raised in Linz, Upper Austria, the home town of Anton Bruckner. I studied piano at the Bruckner Conservatory under Prof. Horst Matthaeus, in Linz. I continued my studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. At there, my teachers include Prof. Hans Kann and Prof. Peter Efler. I have also worked with Tatiana Nikolaeva and Jacob Lateiner at the "Summer Academy Mozarteum" in Salzburg. MOL: Are you the first one in your family to become a pianist? Well, in general, I think that the characteristic of a good musician should be to be able to play any kind of music - no matter if she or he likes it or not. But when I have the choice to select a certain repertoire for a CD, or for a concert, I certainly select pieces, to which I feel a certain kind of affinity; pieces, which were composed in a very "familiar" musical language. Fortunately we pianist are lucky to have a sheer endless list of compositions in various styles for our instrument. It is difficult to describe why one thinks such piece suits him or her better. It may be the music which one likes to hear and to play, or maybe sometimes it is the characteristic of pianistic texture, which it may attract the performer. To certain extend, selecting of music does represents you best as an artist.

  • Albert Sassmann was born in Linz, Austria. He studied piano at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz, and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Hans Kann and Peter Efler. Sassmann is Associate of the Royal College of Music London, and holds a DMA of the Academy of Music Cluj Napoca. He has worked with renowned pianists such as Tatiana Nikolaeva and Jacob Lateiner. Aside from radio- and CD recordings Sassmann has performed throughout Europe, in the USA, in the Middle East, Australia, East- and Southeast Asia.
    Since 2004 he has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

Élections à l'UCIP
L'Assemblée générale 2009 de l' UCIP débute aujourd'hui, samedi, à la Villa Aurelia de Rome. Elle se termine lundi. Malgré des demandes répétées, les dirigeants de l' UCIP n'ont pas remis au blogue de l'ACPC l'ordre du jour de cette assemblée ni confirmé la participation de Canadiens à cette rencontre. Le blogue a toutefois appris que le directeur général de Radio Ville-Marie , Jean-Guy Roy, y participe au nom de Communications et Société . Des élections à la présidence et à la vice-présidence auront lieu dans les prochaines heures. Selon ce qu'a pu apprendre le blogue de l'ACPC, quatre candidats seraient en lice pour la présidence soit Else Strivens, Bernhard Sassmann, Albert Noth et Joseph Calstas-Chittilappilly, actuel secrétaire général de l'UCIP. L'ACPC n'est plus membre de l'UCIP depuis avril 2008.
