The feeder feeds documents one at a time from a document stack in the hopper for processing by the at least one processing device and reception by the output pocket. The hopper includes a floor-wall construction for holding the document stack. The floor-wall construction is configured to column-form documents in the document stack. The column-forming provides increased stiffness in the vertical direction and prevents documents from falling/folding over due to top-heaviness. Techniques For Illuminating Objects Copenhaver, Gary B.; Catchpole, Clive E.; Bakker, Johan P.; Vala, John D.; Concannon, David J.; http://www.devileye.net/catalog/bull_nose_clincher/techniques_illuminating_objec
Extractions: Copenhaver, Gary B.; Catchpole, Clive E.; Bakker, Johan P.; Vala, John D.; Concannon, David J.; An arrangement for illuminating objects wherein a large number of objects are rapidly and continuously transported past one or more stations, each illuminated by a cylindrical, integrating Lambertian reflecting/diffusing cavity having one or more like light sources therein so as to generate and project a highly intense, highly uniform and highly diffuse beam of illumination, while incorporating optical guide means to couple said illumination beam to the face of the objects at said station and to couple the reflected image of the object back to the cavity. FIELD OF INVENTION Workers in the field of illumination are aware that the art of illuminating objects (e.g. for imaging thereof) is proceeding apace with increasing need to more effectively provide intense lighting which is nonetheless diffused and uniform across a field of view, while also being cost-effective and free of harmful thermal effects. The field of view to be captured by an imaging system such as the one described here is largely defined by the maximum height of the objects (e.g. documents) which must be captured. The objects here contemplated (checks and like financial instruments) are typically between 2.75 to 4.75 inches (70.0 to 121.0 millimeters) high and between 6.0 and 10.0 inches (152.0 and 254.0 millimeters) long.

Method Of Beam Centering Bakker, Johan G.; Van Der Mast, Karel D.; By using, in beam path correction, a threepoint adjustment of the beam wobbler http://www.devileye.net/catalog/expansion_joint_with_protective_shielding/beam_c
Extractions: Bakker, Johan G.; Van Der Mast, Karel D.; By using, in beam path correction, a three-point adjustment of the beam wobbler, the beam path can be optimized for realizing minimum picture errors in the apparatus. For different lens energizations a picture-shifting correction can simply be carried out dynamically. The invention relates to a method of centering a beam of charged particles in a charged particle beam apparatus having a particle source, a system of lenses, a wobbler, an objective lens and a central control device, and to an apparatus suitable for performing said method. It is the object of the invention to provide a more generally useful beam correction method which in all circumstances leads to a sufficiently exact centering. For this purpose, a method of the type mentioned in the opening paragraph is characterized according to the invention in that image displacements for two wobbler adjustments are determined with respect to a third wobbler adjustment situated symmetrically therebetween and the image displacements are then made mutually equal by readjusting the central composition exposure beam. Since in the method according to the invention only image displacements need be compared, the beam correction in this case requires comparatively little time and since comparison is carried out with respect to a central position the centering due to the mutual equalization of the displacements, can be carried out so that optimum centering is ensured for the whole relevant beam run. By focusing, the images can be moved towards each other until an operative distance has been achieved which is attractive for the measurement.

Edit Background Estimation and Adaptation Model with Light-Change Removal for Heavily Down-Sampled Video Surveillance Signals Sascha D. Cvetkovic Peter Bakker Johan Schirris Peter H. N. De With This paper describes a background-subtraction system with light change-detection which works on a luminance QCIF- size video signal for surveillance applications. The new proposed pixel background model is controlled by a statistical threshold and is robust for cluttered background and small object motions. Moreover, for light-change detection, we introduce temporal prediction of pixel values to estimate trends while quickly adapting to scene changes to facilitate a very sensitive detection of moving targets. Experiments show that a local contrast enhancement applied prior to down- sampling improves detection sensitivity, and combined with the shifted scaled difference and the Wronskian determinant operators provides the best background/foreground detection.

The cooling medium is circulated between the wall of the lens and the wall of the cooling member, enabling a high transfer of heat by convection. By using a cooling liquid which is undersaturated for air and which is heated prior to its passage through the cooling duct, accumulation of air due to heating can be prevented in the cooling member.
