Extractions: The group continued to perform locally and was asked to perform in Las Vegas with Redd Fox at the Thunderbird in 1976. In 1980, they recorded “The Next Movement” album for the local GEC label that plays like a last luscious piece of delight, appearing in the waning years of Chicago soul. The mid-tempo groove “Never Stop Dancing” received national radio play. With amazing string and horn arrangements by Tom Washington anchored by a tight rhythm section featuring drummer Quinton Joseph, it was a timeless release. In 1992, Next Movement returned to Las Vegas and began performing in showrooms and lounges. The year 2007 finds the group still touring and performing at the finest casinos and showrooms across the country. The current line-up features original members Carnell Haywood and Samuel Thomas, Jr. along with music veterans Donald Albert and Dicki Jonez the group is still making a name for themselves 34 years later.

I was in a bit of a hurry because I wanted to get up to Black Balsam Knob with plenty of light and at the time I wasn’t sure how much further down the road it was. It was so quiet on top of the knob. Aside from the occasional sound of a car, I mainly just heard my ears ringing. I circled around to the other side of the knob continually enjoying the great view and wonderful weather and finally turned around and summitted the knob and hiked back down. Contents News Before moving to California where he would play Dwayne, a lovable teen coming of age amongst a trio of lovable teens, on the ABC television series What's Happening. actor Haywood Nelson came of age in his own right in a neighborhood rich with experiences upon which he capitalized to become an effective performer. That neighborhood was Garden City Park. Nelson lived in Garden City Park from 1969 to 1979. His career, which began at the age of 5 while he was living in Harlem, was already in full swing appearing in some 30 national commercials. Sheldon Dumain, the former principal of Nelson's elementary school, Jackson Avenue School in Mineola, remembered Nelson as a student who had the intangibles that make for success. "He was a wonderful kid, very outgoing, cooperative, the kind of kid that you would want to see succeed," commented Dumain, "When you are a kid's principal and you see that kind of thing you are always so proud." In 1971 Nelson appeared in the film Mixed Company with Barbara Harris and from 1973 to 1974 Nelson performed in the Broadway show Thieves by Herb Gardner, alongside Marlo Thomas and Richard Mulligan.
