Extractions: Ludwig van Beethoven Painted in 1820 by Joseph Karl Stieler Valentina Lisitsa, one of the incredibly gifted pianists of our time, has been kind and provided me a recording of Fr Elise to help spread music. Lisitsa was born in Ukraine but moved to the United States in 1991 after winning a duo-piano competition with her partner Alexei Kuznetsoff. She has since established a reputation as concert pianist with several releases showing her sense of music and serene technique. You can download the free recording of Fr Elise below in MP3 format, and I've taken the liberty to also link some of Valentina's other projects in case you're interested in more of her work. You are welcome to send comments about this recording which should be playable on most computers (and devices such as iPod). I also have the sheet music freely available if you're interested in playing the piece yourself.

Extractions: Saxophonist Kenneth Radnofsky will be the featured guest soloist with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra on November 19 and 20, 7:30 pm at the Plaza Theatre. Radnofsky and the symphony, led by Sarah Ioannides, will perform David Amrams Ode to Lord Buckley Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra. Radnofsky premiered this work with the Portland Symphony in March 17, 1981. Mr. Radnosfky is founder of World-Wide Concurrent Premieres, Inc. and has created a network of musicians commissioning todays finest composers. Radnofsky has commissioned works by American composers including Chris Theofanidis, Larry Bell, Michael Horvit, John McDonald, and Pulitzer Prize winning composer John Harbison. As a soloist, he has appeared with leading orchestras and ensembles throughout the world including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, New World Symphony, and BBC concert Orchestra. Composer David Amram is a pioneer player of jazz French horn and a virtuoso on piano. He has composed more than 100 orchestral and chamber music works, written many scores for Broadway theater and film, including the classic scores for the films Splendor in The Grass and The Manchurian Candidate.
