In celebration of Grand Piano Restoration - a concert by Masa Tayama Tuesday, 13th November 2007 Last night, Tuesday 13th November, Immanuel College celebrated the refurbishment of the school’s grand piano with a celebratory concert given by internationally renowned concert pianist, Masa Tayama. Masa, who wowed the audience with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Chopin’s Nocturne in D flat minor, among other pieces, has recently recorded the complete études of Rachmaninov, has performed all over the world in recitals and in concerti and has been awarded many prizes, including First Prize in the Brant Birmingham International Piano Competition and the Special Prize from the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe during the London International Piano Competition. Masa Tayama has studied with renowned pianists including Benjamin Kaplan, Mikhail Voskresenky and, firstly, with Immanuel College’s piano teacher, Liviu Galbinski.
